Commercial Career: 1976 -

While still in College I began painting realistic backdrops for commercial film. By 1986 my clients included the automobile, sports, music, film, and television industries. My work has appeared on the covers of Fashion of the Time Magazine, Life Magazine and numerous world wide publications and commercials. In 1987 I was featured on Evening Magazine in a segment called "Behind the Backdrops”.

Fine Art: 1973 -

As a realistic painter, my commercial success was thriving, and so was my abstract painting. However, I was slowly being influenced by the abstraction inherent to realistic imagery. My first solo exhibition at the OK Harris Gallery in New York consisted of one subject...realistic paintings of the sky with clouds.

Public Installations: 1978 -

Another facet of my commercial painting is giving life to fabricated environments and sculpture. In essence, my canvas is three dimensional. Highlights include:

1996 - Caesar’s Palace....The Forum Shops, Las Vegas

Textured and “aged” all of the fabricated building facades to appear to be thousands of years old.

2008 - The Revard Plaza Carousel, Detroit, MI

Painted the custom made carousel creatures that were indigenous to the Detroit River environment and emulated their natural coloring and characteristic features. I also painted the decorative panels and murals that completed the entire carousel design.

2013 - The Rose Kennedy Greenway Carousel, Boston, MA

Painted the custom made carousel creatures that were indigenous to Massachusetts and emulated their natural coloring and distinctive features. I also painted the decorative panels and murals that completed the entire carousel design.

Murals and Home Theaters

As the Backdrop business was giving way to the use of computers in Film and Photography, I was able to reinvent the use of realistic painting with an art form that dates back to early man.  A portfolio of the murals and home theater ceilings I’ve painted is in the menu to your left.

Portraits and Illustration

That portfolio is in the menu as well.
